DOODY HOME CENTER

Our History

John J. Doody & Son Inc., better known as Doody Home Center, opened its doors in 1925 on Jerome Avenue and E 18th Street in the Sheepshead Bay Area of Brooklyn, New York. In 1934 we moved to our current location on Avenue Y & 17th Street.

Doody Home Center originally began as a center for building material supply; primarily selling brick, block, sand, cement, and a host of other building materials. During the Great Depression, Doody Home Center secured the contract to supply all of the building materials for the now famous Lundy Bros. Restaurant on Emmons Ave. This contract helped the business survive throughout those very difficult times.

Over the years, Doody Home Center has always adapted with the times by adding to our inventory and selections. We moved away from the exclusive building materials business and expanded to include paint, windows, doors, hardware and housewares.

As we enter our 99th year in business, we still continue to adjust and improve our unique selection of products to keep up and improve your home or living space. We hope you stop by our store and see firsthand why Doody Home Center has withstood the test of time. Our many dedicated and attentive staff members are always available to assist you
